For Jana Smith, taking care of people has always come naturally. Long before J-Luxury Vacations, Jana spent 34 years in education, including 30 years as a full-time teacher and another four years working part-time. During her career, she taught and influenced more than 1,000 students, building relationships with generations of children and families. Teaching required patience, organization, listening, problem-solving, and a genuine desire to help others, all qualities that continue to define Jana today.
Jana's love of travel goes back more than three decades. Since 1994, travel has been an important part of her life, from memorable vacations and resort experiences to annual trips with girlfriends and countless adventures shared with family and friends. Over the years, she developed extensive firsthand experience with resorts, vacation ownership, and luxury travel, often learning the little details that can make the difference between a good trip and an unforgettable one.
Jana's 34-year career in education hasn't completely ended, since she still does work in the school system. In addition, she's way too young and full of energy for retirement. So instead, Jana saw an opportunity to begin an entirely new chapter, one that combined two things she has always loved: travel and helping people.
Today, Jana is the heart of J-Luxury Vacations. She brings the same personal attention to her clients that she brought to her students and their families for decades. She enjoys getting to know people, hearing their stories, understanding what matters to them, answering their questions, and being someone they know they can reach when they need help.
Those who know Jana know that relationships matter to her. She isn't interested in treating people like reservation numbers or transactions. She wants clients to feel comfortable calling her, asking questions, sharing what they're excited about, and knowing there's a real person on the other end who genuinely cares.
In many ways, Jana may have changed careers, but she hasn't changed who she is. After spending more than three decades helping students learn, grow, and succeed, she's simply found a new way to take care of people.
